Seminar Bluff Body Drag Reduction by Upstream Disturbance
Jinjun Wang

Details:

The flow structures and aerodynamic characteristics of circular/square cylinder and disk with an upstream disturbance rod were investigated experimentally. The flow structures were visualized by hydrogen bubble technique in water tunnel, and the pressure measurement was carried out in wind tunnel utilizing electronic pressure scanner. By integrating the pressure on different bluff body surfaces, the drag reduction can be estimated. The drag reduction mechanisms for different bluff bodies were discussed based on the flow structures visualized.
